This week I started not one but two classes leading the first course from Seth Godin’s Krypton Community College. It’s a new venture by Godin to turn education on its head in much the same way he’s done with marketing and publishing. The first course that we started this week is called Go: How to Overcome Fear, Pick Yourself, & Start a Project That Matters. It’s a work in four parts.
One of the classes is hosted on Sundays at The Pilgrimage at 10am. The Pilgrimage is a small church based out of my office that is intensely discussion-based rather than the traditional praise and worship music followed by a sermon. It has more of the feel of a college classroom than a church, which is perfect for Godin’s work.
The other class is hosted at the Myrtle Beach Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and started this morning with twelve attendees.
Both classes continue for another three weeks, so, if you’d like to join us, jump on in with the next session. It’s really interesting because the church class is faith-based and the other more business-focused, and yet much of the discussion is very similar.
For more information and to access the student guide for the classes, click HERE. If you’ll be joining us for the second session, be sure to go back and do the Class One activities and also do the Class Two activities to get ready for the Sunday (or Tuesday) class. It’s not much work, but it helps to do the class activities prior to that day to stimulate the conversation. There’s a few blogs to read and usually an audio to listen to or video to watch. The video for session two is hilarious! If you can’t download the course, let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll e-mail it to you.
My hope is that any locals will join us, any of my out of town friends will look for or start their own group, and any stragglers will go ahead and check out the links and ship something.
In the meantime, here’s a link to my fave Seth Godin book Tribes.
